FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) What if I don't have any experience?
Most of our members do not have any experience! We focus on learning together and having fun. The majority of our 400+ dancers have no prior experience!
2) Do I have to audition to participate in the spring show?
Absolutely not! We welcome anyone who wants to learn dance. You do, however, need to attend the showcase in order to participate.
3) How do I get placed?
After the Choreographer’s Showcase, dancers will complete a survey ranking their top 5 dances. From now until November 20th, dancers can earn points that goes towards their placement order. Dancers with more points will be placed into their top 5 choices before dancers with fewer points. Dancers must earn at least 1 point in order to be placed.

There are guys are all over the Dance Studio Show, beginner to experienced! Just look at the photos and videos we have.
6) What is the time commitment?
This year's show will be held on March 29, 2018. Practices begin second semester and are typically 1-1.5 hours per week with additional practices in 1-2 weeks leading up to the show. During the first semester, there are socials, workshops, and other ways for you to explore various dance styles.
7) Do I have to join the club to participate in the spring show?
Yes. Membership fees are used to cover the cost of renting Annenberg Theater and our rehearsal space at Koresh Dance Studio and Major Moment Studio in Center City. Hence, we can only offer performance opportunities to our members.
8) I just want to learn how to dance. Do I have to be in the spring show?
Not at all! As a member, you can come to our workshops, social events, and other Dance Studio programming separate from the show.
9) What kind of dances can I sign up for?
As all pieces are choreographed by students, it depends each year on choreographers we can find from the student population. We've had everything from Bollywood to Tap to Hip-Hop to Afro-Caribbean.
10) How many dances can I sign up for?
Most members perform 1-2 pieces. You can sign up for more, but remember you have to attend all rehearsals for each piece.
11) Is there a cap on membership?
Nope.
12) Can partners join?
Absolutely! Partners get the same benefits including eligibility to perform in the spring show.
13) Where and when are practices held?
We typically rent out Koresh Dance Studio and Major Moment Studio in Center City. They are typically held after 8PM to avoid conflict with classes and other commitments.
14) I want to get involved more!
Great! You could:
- Apply for one of our First Year Director positions
- Apply to be a choreographer
- Dance in the show
- Help us with stage managing as the show nears
- Photograph the show
- Be an emcee for the show
